Parents,
We started a new chapter on factors, multiples, prime and composite numbers. etc. Today's lesson (5.1) has students completing homework from their math book on pg. 283 which is on finding factors of a number. Your child is also encouraged to be reading for at least 20 minutes every night and practicing their multiplication facts.
I regret to inform you that there are still some problems with class rosters in Think Central. Mr. Utter's homeroom students have access to it but Mrs. Cerny's and Mrs. Ward's accounts are not currently active.
For updates this week, please check out Monday's blog.
Have a good night.

Tonight your child should be completing the odd numbers on pgs. 55 - 60 in their math book which is a review of what we have learned in chapter one. They completed the even numbers in class and we went over it but you are welcome to go over them as well, to make sure they are prepared for the chapter one test tomorrow.

Neighborhood News
- I believe Think Central is up and working so you your child will have a username and password to access the site in order to review the lesson, play games, and complete practice problems at home. You will get this information sometime this week.
- Students should know all of their multiplication tables 1- 12 upon leaving 3rd grade. Please work with your child as much as possible as we still have a very high number of students who do not know them with speed or accuracy and confidence. A suggestion would be practicing flash cards with your child.
- We will soon have accounts for Reading Counts. Please encourage students to take reading counts tests as they complete their books throughout the year. Reading counts points are being calculated for neighborhood recognition.
- The Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) is a test that students will take each quarter to measure your child’s reading level. SRI growth is usually related to continual reading. The more a student reads, the better reader they will become.
- If you need to contact any of us, the quickest way is probably through email. Our emails are as follows: charles.utter@am.dodea.edu; patricia.cerny@am.dodea.edu; and judith.ward@am.dodea.edu.
- If your child will be absent from school, please let the office know with a call, email, or note. You can email the school at CESattendance@am.dodea.edu
- New DODEA rules prohibit food for birthdays so please do not send in cupcakes or other food for your child.

The math homework tonight is on pg. 47 in their math book on subtraction of large numbers. They should also be reading for at least 20 minutes a night and practicing their multiplication facts. Students are told to take their math book home with them instead of ripping the page out so that parents can check out the lesson before the homework, if needed. If you did not receive the G Force Gazette yesterday, please look on yesterday's post on this blog and you will find the information that you are missing.
