The students have to complete pg. 219 - 220 in their math book for homework on division with tens, hundreds, and thousands. They basically have to ignore the zeros for a moment and do the division. Then add the zeros to their quotient. A video is provided for assistance.
The following information below is what was on this week's G Force Gazette.
Neighborhood News
- We are doing a gift exchange and a STEM project this week. A note went home last week on this.
- Our SMART goal this year is to increase multiplication fluency so that every student has mastered their multiplication facts. This week we will be targeting fours. We will be monitoring their daily progress.
- The gift exchange is meant to be silly and fun so gifts don’t need to be special or valuable. Have your child wrap something they already own and don’t use or play with anymore.
- Please encourage students to take reading counts tests as they complete their books throughout the year. Reading counts points are being calculated for neighborhood recognition.
- If you need to contact any of us, the quickest way is probably through email. Our emails are as follows: charles.utter@am.dodea.edu; kali.hamill@am.dodea.edu and judith.ward@am.dodea.edu.
- If your child will be absent from school, please let the office know with a call, email, or note. You can email the school at CESattendance@am.dodea.edu
- New DODEA rules prohibit food for birthdays so please do not send in cupcakes or other food for your child.

Educational Targets:
Math:
Students are continuing chapter 4 on division. We should get through lessons 4.4 through 4.7 this week. They will be dividing tens, hundreds, and thousands, estimating quotients using compatible numbers, investigating division using the distributive property, and dividing using repeated subtraction.
Science/ Social Studies:
Students will continue working on the Alien PBL Project.
Language Arts:
Their reading comprehension skill this week is still working on drawing conclusions. The grammar skill is irregular plural nouns and they are writing personal narratives about something that happened last week at school.
Gingerbread STEM Project:
Our student groups always benefit from having an adult assistant while we build and you are welcome to help them this Friday morning between 8:45 to 11. We still need the following supplies for it: Graham crackers, small marshmallows, small pretzel sticks, Lifesavers, Twizzlers, small candy canes, Gumdrops, jelly beans, M & M’s, Skittles, and Smarties.
