Parents,

The math homework on 4.8 is on division using partial quotients. This is a different strategy of division using multiplication to find the quotient. A video below explains the process. You may also check out the lesson on Think Central or in their math book.

Neighborhood News
  • Happy New Year!
  • Please sign and return your child’s progress report that went home before the holiday break.
  • Our SMART goal this year is to increase multiplication fluency so that every student has mastered their multiplication facts. This week we will be targeting sixes. We will be monitoring their daily progress.
  • Please encourage students to take reading counts tests as they complete their books throughout the year. Reading counts points are being calculated for neighborhood recognition.

  • If your child will be absent from school, please let the office know with a call, email, or note. You can email the school at CESattendance@am.dodea.edu

Educational Targets:
Math:
Students are continuing chapter 4 on division. We should get through lessons 4.8 through 4.12 this week not being responsible for 4.10. They will be working on division using partial quotients, investigating model division with regrouping, division by one-digit numbers, and problem solving using multistep division problems.

Science/ Social Studies:
Students will continue working on the Alien PBL Project.

Language Arts:
Their reading comprehension skill this week is working on fact and opinion with the reading story, Marven of the Great North Woods. The grammar skill is singular possessive nouns and they are utilizing explanatory writing by describing how to make a perfect snowman.
